Making Money From Home: December Update $1,504

Making Money From Home - December Update $1,504What a way to finish the year! December was another awesome month. Although it was a slight dip from November I was still able to get over halfway to my goal of making $3,000 from home. For those who haven’t read my previous post, I have a very simple dream. My dream is to make enough money from home so that I can quit my day job. (That is going to be a sweet day!) My estimate is that I’d need $3,000/month in steady income to make that possible.

Making money from home isn’t easy so I’ve identified a few different ways to reach this goal. If one of these methods doesn’t work then I’ll switch to another one.

How I’m Making Money From Home:

  • Website: i need money ASAP!
  • Carpentry: A hobby of mine that brings in some cash
  • Small Business: Not sure what yet…maybe financial planning?
  • Freelancing: In the future…maybe freelance writing?
  • Swagbucks: Easy way to make money online just by searching & watching videos
  • Clickworker: Doing small tasks online

My December Update: $1,504

It was a great month for making money from home! Although it was another small backtrack from where I was in October and November. But really who can complain about $1,500+ in side income? Not me thats for sure! Most of the month was actually trending ahead of November but then Christmas came and everything really slowed down. I never anticipated that there would be such a large decrease but it makes total sense. Everyone is home with family and less people are online.

Looking forward I expect January, February and March to be a bit soft as well. Some of the keywords that drive the majority of my SEO traffic appear to have a seasonal dip for the first three months of the year.

Without further ado here’s how I made $1,504 this month…

Websites:

This was a good month for my online income. There are a few websites that I tinker with but i need money ASAP! is by far the largest. If you’re thinking about starting a website then I encourage you to check out my previous post. Right now GoDaddy has a sweet promotion where you can start a website for only $1/month! You get a free domain name and everything.

My websites made an astonishing $1,361 this month. This was from a mixture of Adsense, Media.net and affiliate sales. Up to this point I have not done any direct advertising or sponsored posts on my sites.

This site has seen some good growth. I continue to work on increasing the number of page views per session and decreasing the bounce rates. I hope this better user experience will translate into higher traffic and earnings in the future.

December Stats:

  • Sessions: 11,692
  • Pageviews: 29,697
  • Pages/Session: 2.5
  • Bounce Rate: 52%

I also did a couple of guest posts this month. Check them out…

The site was also mentioned on QuitYourDayJob101, thanks Allan for sharing!

As you can see it was a great month for blogging and I hope to keep this up in January.

Swagbucks:

If you’re familiar with i need money ASAP! then you know that I love Swagbucks. You can earn money online for doing the things you normally do like shopping, search and watching videos. This month I made $128 from Swagbucks. Some of which I used on gift cards to buy my Christmas gifts online from Amazon.

You can also earn money from referrals. Swagbucks will give you 10% of whatever your referrals earn. Thats right, you don’t even have to do anything and you’ll be making money. Over time I’ve been able to get a decent number of referrals.

Clickworker:

Clickworker is another site I use to make money online. On Clickworker its possible to make between $5-$10 per hour. The trick is to qualify for good tasks by doing well on the assessments. For a while there they didn’t have enough tasks for everyone so the assessments were shut down but they appear to be back up again. Even though I didn’t spend a lot of time on Clickworker I was still able to make $15.10 this month.

Carpentry:

Through all the Christmas craziness I was able to spend some time on my carpentry projects. They weren’t sold though. So I didn’t technically make any income from my carpentry hobby this month. But it does mean I should get a few hundred $’s sometime in the future. Usually I’ll attend an “art show” during the summer where I can sell a few pieces at a good premium. The best part is that these “art shows” are usually community run events so it only costs $40-$60 to get a 10ft x 10ft booth. If you have a craft you think you can sell then look into these local art shows. They’re inexpensive to enter so its pretty easy to turn a profit.

Making Money From Home:

Thats it for this month! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reach my goal of making $2,000 in December. For January I’m going to set a more realistic goal of $1,500. I’m also going to try and finish a few more carpentry projects so that they’re ready to sell in the summer.

Wish me luck!

  1. Good job on the side income, and thanks for sharing how you make it. I would like to see some of pics of your wood projects, as I’m a fan of wood working. My December was great, as I paid cash for all gifts, and I made a good amount of blog income, and dividend income. Good Luck in 2015.

    • Thanks EL! My woodworking is nothing fancy. Mostly rustic furniture for lake houses. It’s less demanding than cabinetry. Plus you don’t need nearly as many tools. Congrats on the blog/dividend income. My goal is to grow my passive income as well. But that will take some time.

    • Thanks DC. Freelancing is something I’d like to try, but I even struggle to get one post a week here on i need money ASAP! so maybe not yet. Once I get a few posts ahead I’ll think about looking for some additional writing work.

  3. Ineedmoneyasap,

Thanks for being so open with your site stats and how you are making income online. Very few bloggers are willing to talk about this information and I always find it very interesting even though I have no ads on my site.

With the growth you experienced throughout 2014 it wouldn’t surprise me if you achieve your $3000 monthly goal a couple months throughout 2015.

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Thanks Mr. Captain Cash. I hope you’re right! Hitting a few months of +$3k earnings in 2015 would be absolutely amazing! I’m definitely going to try and make that happen but it will probably be through a variety of income sources.

    • Thanks No Nonsense Landlord! You might be right, working for someone else is much easier and a steady income. But there is something so appealing about doing your own thing 🙂 Even if its more work.

  4. Congrats man, that’s really impressive.

December was a terrible month for me when it comes to general blog income, but my online store rocked it and ended up making it my best month for a while.

  5. Good on you for pulling in a respectable amount of passive income through your web site. It sure is nice to know that supplementing your income, especially during retirement, is basically only as difficult as typing some stuff into the computer and watching it pull in traffic. 🙂

    • Thanks Steve, it’s incredible how a little bit of hard work can create a decent amount of side income. It wasn’t an overnight success. Before this there were other projects that failed miserably. But they were all learning experiences. Thanks for the comment!
