Over $2,000 in side income this month. Amazing! One of my goals from last months income update was to break the $2,000 level. This is something I’ve come close to a few times but it’s never happened. So this is incredible.
Breaking $2,000 feels like a solid milestone on my quest to reach $3,000/month in side income. The goal is to make $3,000/month on a consistent basis so that I can quit my job and work from home full time. Breaking $2,000 means that I’m 2/3rds of the way to my goal.
Breaking $2,000 also means its the third month in a row that I’ve hit a record level of side income. June, then July and now August have each been record months for side income (check out the links below for my past income updates).
It was somewhat expected. In early January/February I did notice that the site is somewhat seasonal with more visitors in the summer months. This does mean that September could be lower than August. My goal is to try and avoid that.
Year To Date Total Side Income:
Making $2,086 in August brings my year to date total to $13,398! When I first started building websites as a hobby I never in a million years would have thought I’d be making almost $20,000 per year. It’s been an incredible way to make money on top of my day job and I’d encourage everyone it give it a try. It’s much easier than you think but it will take a bit of work. Don’t expect your first site to start making $2k per month right away. But with some practice/effort it’s entirely doable.
Its easy to start a blog. Check out the start a blog page. This guide will show you how to start a blog in just minutes using Host Gator, BlueHost or GoDaddy. I use BlueHost personally. Crowdsource a great logo. For only a little bit of cash get a great logo from sites like DesignCrowd.

My August Update: $2,086
The websites were again my largest source of income this month. One of my other sites has started to produce some decent income. It’s not near the level of this site but it has potential so its great to see it starting to pick up.
Over the next few months I’d like to try and do some more guest posting. This is a great way to bring more readers to your site and also build quality backlinks to improve your SEO. The only trouble is that it takes time to write high quality content that other sites would be interested in posting.
- Sessions: 14,342
- Pageviews: 32,673
- Pages/Session: 2.3
- Bounce Rate: 56%
Swagbucks has been on the back burner this summer. I’ve already made quite a bit of money with Swagbucks this year. This month was about on par with previous months at $82. That brings my year to date total to $588. Having some high quality referrals has helped me reach those numbers.
When you refer other people to Swagbucks you get a part of their earnings. Putting a link up on Facebook is a great way to get referrals. Plus if you sign up now you get a $5 sign up bonus from Swagbucks.
In the future I’d like to start a financial planning type business. To reach this goal I’m taking courses at a local community college. Its a certificate in financial planning. My last course was about insurance and was super boring. That being said I still pulled off a B+ in the course!
The next course starts in a week and is about retirement planning. This should be more interesting than insurance (I hope!)
Making Money From Home:
Thats it for this month. How did your August go? Did you enjoy the last month of summer? My goal for September will be to keep my side income around the same level as the summer months. I fully expect it to drop slightly but will do my best to increase my income sources and keep it above $2,000 in September.
How was your August? Make a comment!
